CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME: THE HIDDEN GLOBAL EPIDEMIC

"While everyone talks about carbs, fats, and proteins in your diet, hardly anyone talks about electrolytes, even though they're way more fundamental to staying alive and feeling good."
- Felix Harder

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is likely one of the largest yet least recognized epidemics of the modern world. It is characterized by low self esteem, depression and inhibited personality. Individuals no longer experience the energy, vitality, and enthusiasm they once had while carrying out their daily routines. Life begins to feel devoid of spark—marked by a constant sense of heaviness, mental drag, and quiet exhaustion. This state is often dismissed as a normal part of ageing or modern living.

In response, physicians frequently prescribe metabolic “boosters” in the form of vitamins and antioxidants, sometimes in double or even triple the recommended doses, while overlooking their essential co-factors called micronutrients, particularly minerals. This is a dangerous nutritional fallacy adopted by modern medicine. It is akin to sending soldiers into battle without weapons! Micronutrients, especially minerals, are not optional; they are fundamental to energy production and metabolic efficiency. No book, no technique or counseling of any kind can give you your energy back. All else is illusion. Beyond physical ailments, a vast majority of psychological disturbances are also secondary to mineral imbalances. An individual’s mineral pattern profoundly shapes temperament, behavior, and personality.

The human body cannot survive without minerals. When one mineral becomes deficient, another (often with a similar structure or biological role) may accumulate in an attempt to compensate. The interplay among these trace minerals is both fascinating and complex. In a state of chronic fatigue, an individual not only develops specific nutritional deficiencies but also accumulates excess and undesirable chemicals within the tissues, which must be eliminated before meaningful recovery can occur. This crucial aspect is frequently overlooked by treating physicians.

Stress, whether physiological or psychological, is well known to deplete tissue stores of essential micronutrients. Prolonged depletion contributes not only to chronic fatigue but also to premature ageing. When these nutrients are replenished in appropriate and balanced amounts, fatigue can often be overcome and energy restored.

The energy needs of human body are of two types: A steady continuous type and another in the form of bursts and sudden spikes corresponding to the sudden activities. It is the complex interaction between adrenal, thyroid and various minerals which keep the human battery charged. The four minerals: calcium, Magnesium, Sodium and Potassium are called as macro-minerals and all other minerals are called as micro-minerals. When one mineral goes out of balance, it affects all other minerals in the body. The sodium-potassium ratio is an indicator of person's energy. The lower the ratio is, the longer it will take to eliminate fatigue and replenish the energy.
