▪ गरज भासल्यास कामाला येणे = to fall back on
We can fall back on our savings in case business fails. धंदा बसल्यास बचतीचा पैसे आपल्याला कामाला येईल.

▪ अयशस्वी होणे, बंद पडणे = to break down
A robot was sent into space to repair broken down spaceship. बिघडलेले अंतराळयान दुरुस्त करण्यासाठी एक यंत्रमानव अंतराळात पाठवण्यात आला.

▪ अफवा पसरवणारे = rumor mongers
Two rumor mongers were arrested for spreading rumors on Facebook regarding University results. विद्यापीठ निकालांबाबत फेसबुकवर अफवा पसरवणाऱ्या दोघांना अटक करण्यात आली.

▪ खलबते करणे = to connive
The spies are conniving over a scheme to enter into the fort. किल्ल्यात प्रवेश मिळवण्याची योजना आखण्यासाठी गुप्तहेरांमध्ये खलबते चालू आहेत.

▪ छोटी कादंबरी = novelette
The film is based on a novelette - The Secret of the Bots. 'The Secret of the Bots' ह्या कादंबरीवर हा चित्रपट आधारित आहे.

▪ चुरगाळलेला = crumpled

▪ तुकडे तुकडे होऊन नष्ट होणे = to crumble
The govt must pay attention to old sculptures before they crumble. सरकारने जुन्या शिल्पाकृतींकडे नष्ट होण्याअगोदरच लक्ष दिले पाहिजे.

▪ गावातील चर्चित व्यक्ती = toast of the town
A pot full of gold coins was found in Gopinath's field. He is the toast of the town. गोपीनाथच्या शेतात सोन्याच्या नाण्यांनी भरलेला घडा सापडला. तो सध्या गावात चर्चेचा विषय आहे.

▪ जिंकायचे विषय (ठिकाण, संपत्ती, व्यक्ती इ.) = conquest
The conquest of space is a near impossible task for human being. अवकाशावर विजय मिळवणे ही मानवाच्या दृष्टीने अशक्य कोटीतील गोष्ट आहे.
