निशःब्दतेतून शब्दाकडे आणि शब्दातून पुन्हा निशःब्दतेकडे, असा जीवनाचा प्रवास चालतो. कुठलीही भाषा हि त्या प्रवासाचे एक माध्यम. केवळ शब्दार्थ मांडण्यापेक्षा मराठी शब्दसमूहाचा भावार्थ व्यक्त करणारे काही निवडक इंग्रजी शब्द ह्या शब्दमालेत दिलेले आहेत. प्रत्येकी दहा शब्दांचा (words, phrase or idiom) समावेश असलेल्या मराठी-इंग्रजी शब्दमालेचा हा भाग - 15.

▪ गुपचूप पळून जाऊन लग्न करणे = to elope
She eloped four times, every time with a new boyfriend. ती चार वेळा पळून गेली, प्रत्येकवेळी नव्या मित्रासोबत.

▪ शापित = jinxed
This house is jinxed, it carries jinxes of dead infants. हे घर शापित आहे, त्याला मृत अर्भकांचे शाप लागलेले आहेत.

▪ जास्तीचे आणि बिनकामाचे, अनावश्यक = superfluous
I think wearing a mask inside your house is superfluous. मला वाटते घरामध्ये असताना मास्क घालणे अनावश्यक होय.
- Syn: redundant

▪ वर्णन पण चित्र काढून केलेले = imagery
Children understand faster by imagery than by mere text. मुले शब्दलिपीपेक्षा चित्रलिपीद्वारे अधिक लवकर समजतात.

▪ व्यावहारिक = tenable
Imposing a lockdown for a prolonged period is not tenable. प्रदीर्घ काळासाठी लॉकडाऊनची सक्ती करणे हे व्यवहारिक नाही.

▪ एखाद्या क्षेत्रातला नवखा आणि अननुभवी माणूस = tenderfoot
A tenderfoot like you should not invest a big sum in the stock market. तुझ्यासारख्या अननुभवी माणसाने स्टॉक मार्केटमध्ये मोठी रक्कम लावू नये.
- Syn: novice, newbie

▪ कुठल्याही पुराव्याशिवाय मानले गेलेले तत्त्व किंवा सिद्द्धांत = tenet
"Your actions in this life will determine your next life', is one of the tenets of Hinduism. 'तुमची ह्या जन्मातली कर्मे तुमचा पुढचा जन्म ठरवतील', हा हिंदुधर्माचा एक सिद्धांत होय.

▪ रोख, दिशा = tenor
Yuvrajsingh came to bat and the tenor of the game changed completely. युवराजसिंग बॅटिंगला आला आणि खेळाचा रोख पूर्ण बदलला.

▪ तंतोतंत = to a tee
HIs face suits for the role of Shivaji Maharaj to a tee. शिवाजी महाराजांच्या भूमिकेसाठी त्याचा चेहेरा तंतोतंत जुळतो.

▪ प्रेमळ आणि त्यागी = doting
He was a doting husband who took every care of his sick wife. तो एक मायाळू पती होता; त्याने आपल्या आजारी पत्नीची सर्व काळजी वाहिली.
