शब्दांना आपलंसं करून घेतलं म्हणजे त्यांना आपल्याबरोबर राहावंसं वाटतं! आणि आपलंसं करून घेण्याचा उपाय म्हणजे त्यांच्या वारंवार भेटी घेणं. केवळ शब्दार्थ मांडण्यापेक्षा मराठी शब्दसमूहाचा भावार्थ व्यक्त करणारे काही निवडक इंग्रजी शब्द

▪ अतिरंजित = overblown
The news that media give these days are not baseless but definitely overblown. प्रसारमाध्यमे आजकाल ज्या बातम्या देतात त्या अगदीच निराधार नसतात पण अतिरंजित मात्र नक्की असतात.
- Syn: hiflown, pompous, puffed up

▪ दुर्मिळ, वैशिष्ट्यपूर्ण = singular
Having an opportunity to meet Asha Bhosle was a singular event in my life. आशा भोसलेंसोबत भेटीची संधी मिळणे ही माझ्या आयुष्यातली एक अनोखी घटना होती.
- Syn: unique

▪ मानसिक रुग्ण = psychopath
Psychopath is a person who suffers from psychotic disorders. ज्याला मानसिक आजार आहे अशा रुग्णाला psychopath म्हणतात.

▪ कंटाळवाणे = drab
We have decided to ditch our old drab tapestry for a more colorful one. आम्ही आमचे जुनाट निस्तेज पडदे काढून नवीन रंगीबेरंगी घेणार आहोत.
- Syn: dull, dreary

▪ पाणउतारा करणे = to dress somebody down
It is not fair to dress down senior staff members in front of juniors. कनिष्ठ कर्मचाऱ्यांसमोर वरिष्ठांचा पाणउतारा करणे योग्य नाही.

▪ drawers असलेले टेबल = dresser
That dresser is full of things tossed in disorderly manner. अस्ताव्यस्त टाकून दिलेल्या गोष्टींमुळे ते dresser भरलेले आहे.

▪ बागडणे = to gambol
As we walked away, voices of children gamboling on the seashore faded away. जसे आम्ही दूर गेलो, समुद्रकिनाऱ्यावर बागडत असलेल्या मुलांचे आवाज हवेत विरून गेले.
- Syn: to frolic, to romp

▪ हृदयद्रावक = heart-rending
If someone dies of Corona, his body won't be handed over to his family, this is a most heart-rending moment. कोरोनाने मृत्यू झाल्यास त्याचे शव त्याच्या कुटुंबियांच्या हातात दिले जात नाही, तो एक हृदयद्रावक क्षण असतो.
- Syn: heart-breaking, distressing

▪ खराब करणे = to sully
Drug addicts are careless about their name being sullied in the society. समाजात आपले नाव खराब होत आहे ह्याबाबत ड्रग घेणारे लोक निष्काळजी असतात.
- Syn: to defile, to taint

▪ लहान तुकडे/ भाग करून = in driblets
We fed the birdling by spoon in driblets. आम्ही पक्षाच्या पिल्लाला चमच्याने छोटे छोटे भाग करून खाऊ घातले.
