मराठी TO ENGLISH शब्दमाला – भाग 12

   माणसांसारखे शब्दांनापण मित्र असतात, विरोधी असतात, नातलग असतात आणि जोड्यापण असतात. माणसाचा स्वभाव बदलतो तसा शब्दाचा अर्थपण परिस्थितीनुसार बदलतो! केवळ शब्दार्थ मांडण्यापेक्षा मराठी शब्दसमूहाचा भावार्थ व्यक्त करणारे काही निवडक इंग्रजी शब्द

ह्या शब्दमालेत दिलेले आहेत. प्रत्येकी दहा शब्दांचा (words, phrase or idiom) समावेश असलेल्या मराठी-इंग्रजी शब्दमालेचा हा भाग - 12 .

▪ वाटप करणे = to dish out
Our school dished out shira to the students on the ocassion of Rakshabandhan. रक्षाबंधनाच्या दिवशी आमच्या शाळेने विद्यार्थ्यांना शिऱ्याचे वाटप केले.

▪ मंत्र = incantation
The witch doctor invokes the deity with incantations to diminish the power of the snake venom. सापाच्या विषाचा प्रभाव कमी करण्यासाठी मांत्रिक मंत्रांद्वारे देवतेला जागृत करतो.

▪ तुलनेत अधिक प्रभावी ठरणे = to outweigh
In your pick, the pros outweigh the cones. तुझ्या निवडीमध्ये फायद्याचे मुद्दे तोट्याच्या मुद्द्यांपेक्षा अधिक आहेत.
- Syn: to outclass, to override, to supersede, to exceed

▪ खिन्न = out of humor
All the medical staff was out of humor when the patient slipped into coma. पेशंट कोमात गेला नि सर्व वैद्यकीय पथक खिन्न झाले.
- Syn: downcast, dejected, gloomy

▪ जरासा रागात (राग कोणावर काढता येत नसल्याने) = out of sorts
The banana seller is out of sorts as a monkey family made off with his bananas. माकडांच्या एका कुटुंबाने केळी पळवल्यामुळे केळीवाला जरा रागातच आहे.

▪ बाहेर जाणारी = outbound
These outbound ships will travel over all the oceans. ही बाहेर पडणारी जहाजे सर्व समुद्रांतून प्रवास करतील.
- Syn: outgoing

" Future is nothing but the past coming through another gate. "

▪ ज्यातून जाता येणार नाही असे = impassable
The vehicles stranded on both sides of impassable bridge which was submerged due to over-flooding river. नदीच्या पुराच्या पाण्याखाली गेल्याने वाहतुकीसाठी असमर्थ झालेल्या पुलाच्या दोन्ही बाजूला वाहने अडकून राहिली होती.

▪ तोडगा निघत नसल्याने उभा राहिलेला पेचप्रसंग = impasse
The company couldn't get through the negotiations due to impasse. कुठलाही तोडगा निघत नसल्याने कंपनी बोलणी पूर्ण करू शकली नाही.
- Syn: stalemate, deadlock

▪ तोटी, फवाऱ्यासारखे बाहेर पडणे = spout
Have you seen whales breach and spout in the Atlantic Ocean? अटलांटिक समुद्रात व्हेल माशांना पृष्ठभागावर येऊन पाण्याचे फवारे उडवताना बघितलंस का?

▪ ढिगारा = mound
The tomb was covered with a mound of earth. मातीच्या ढिगाऱ्याने ते थडगे झाकले गेले होते.
