मराठी TO ENGLISH शब्दमाला – भाग 6

   बदकाच्या पिल्लावळीप्रमाणे शब्दांची पिल्लावळपण फार मोठी असते! एक बदक हालले म्हणजे सगळी पिल्ले त्याच्या मागे हलतात, त्याप्रमाणे एक मुख्य शब्द लक्षात ठेवला म्हणजे बाकीचे आपोआपच लक्षात राहतात. केवळ शब्दार्थ मांडण्यापेक्षा मराठी शब्दसमूहाचा भावार्थ व्यक्त करणारे काही निवडक इंग्रजी शब्द ह्या शब्दमालेत दिलेले आहेत. प्रत्येकी दहा शब्दांचा (words, phrase or idiom) समावेश असलेल्या मराठी-इंग्रजी शब्दमालेचा हा भाग - 6 .


▪ आपल्या क्षेत्रात कुशल = maven
Dave Cutler, the software maven, is the creator of Windows Operating System. Dave Cutler, एक कुशल सॉफ्टवेअर तंत्रज्ञ, हा Windows Operating System चा संशोधक आहे.
- Syn: ace, wizard

▪ हातघाईवर आलेले भांडण = showdown
The dispute terminated into a showdown before police arrived. पोलीस येण्यापूर्वी वादाचे रूपांतर हातघाईवर येऊन पोचला होता.
- Syn: face-off

▪ बेबनाव = discord, discordance
The agreement was finally reached in spite of discord. मतभेद होऊनसुद्धा शेवटी करार झाला.

▪ पार पडणे = to eventuate
The procession eventuated peacefully. मिरवणूक शांततेत पार पडली.
- Syn: go off

▪ चकाट्या पिटणे = to goof around
Most of the boys waste their vacation goofing around. पुष्कळशी मुले आपल्या सुट्या चकाट्या पिटण्यात वाया घालवतात.

▪ सर्व मनुष्यप्राण्यांना समान लेखणारा = egalitarian
Norway, Denmark and Finland are egalitarian countries. नॉर्वे, डेन्मार्क आणि फिनलंड हे समान मानवतावादी देश आहेत.

▪ अक्षम्य = egregious
In 2018, a British soldier,Henry Tandey, let Hitler go off in wounded condition instead of killing him. That was an egregious mistake in history. २०१८ साली, Henry Tandey नामक एका ब्रिटिश सैनिकाने जखमी हिटलरला ठार न मारता जिवंत सोडून दिले. इतिहासातील ती एक अक्षम्य चूक ठरली.

▪ थव्याने येणे = to swarm in
After Chinese govt killed thousands of sparrows, locusts swarmed in and caused a massive destruction of crops. चिनी सरकारने हजारोंच्या संख्येने चिमण्या मारल्यात, त्यानंतर आलेल्या टोळधाडीने पिकांचे अतोनात नुकसान केले.

▪ घपडसपड, विस्कळीत = garbled
Your answer does not have any sequence, it is all garbled. तुझ्या उत्तराला कसलाही क्रम नाहींनाही, ते सर्व विसंगत आहे.

▪ हलकट कुणीकडचा = you sod
Get lost you sod, you have no regard for the sacrifice your wife has made for you. हलकटा, चालता हो, बायकोनी केलेल्या त्यागाची किंमत नाही तुला.

▪ अनावश्यक = gratuitous
Thanks for your cooking tips but they are gratuitous for me. स्वैपाकाबद्दल दिलेल्या सूचनांबद्दल धन्यवाद, पण त्या माझ्यासाठी काहीच कामाच्या नाहीत.
