Early Morning Rāgās and Associated Songs
Bhairavi
It is one of those versatile, evergreen, all-encompassing rāgās. You can portray any color on a white paper, so can you express any mood with bhairavi. It is capable of expressing a whole spectrum of human emotions. Love and sarcasm, affection and apathy, union and separation, joy and sorrow, longing and loathing, huff and relish, dismay and assurance, surprise and setback, a broken or heavy or delighted heart...
Jogia
Raag Jogiya reflects a deep meditative mood. This is a type of mood where your body consciousness is on the decline and you are absorbed deep into the memories of your beloved. They are so overwhelming that you have forgotten your body, that body you care so much for when you are fully conscious. One knows there is no coming back to consciousness without pain. Generally, it requires courage to peep deep down into the consciousness because that is the place where all the contradictions arise from. But for someone, whose heart is filled with love and love only, he can descend into it anytime. Because, that is the place where one can contemplate upon the infinity of love, can have a glimpse of cosmic love. To live in the rut on a day-to-day basis is insufficient for human beings, we need to transcend and transport to get beyond ourselves, seeking a holiday from outer restrictions to absorb the beauty of the inner world. Ever wonder how Mukesh's voice is fit for this rāgā?
