What is a rāgā? A rāgā is a set of musical frequencies delivered in a specific order and scale which is capable of eliciting specific moods related to that particular set of frequencies. Does this definition seem too crude to you? in cornball voice, a rāgā is a string of musical notes capable of touching your soul. In Sanskrit, a rāgā means passion. It is an exceptional attribute of Indian classical music. Just like a set of lines drawn in a specific way is capable of creating a beautiful picture, specific notes are capable of giving birth to melodious music. There are rāgās specific to the seasons and timing of a day. In this article, we are going to plug into the early morning rāgās which are sung around sunrise (time: 4-8 am).
