At the time of death, a soul will depart from the center around which his whole life is revolved or, where he has dwelt the whole life. Therefore, a yogi leaves from agyā chakra, a lover from heart-chakra and an enlightened one from sahasrāra.

We all love rainbows and we all have rainbows within our bodies! We all love music and we all have cosmic music inside each of us!

Ancient Indian science describes 7 chakras in the human body. The colors in the chakras correspond to the colors present in a rainbow exactly in the same order. Each chakra has its own color which you can experience in your visions and dreams. On the same note, each chakra has his own musical note. The first chakra has one note, the second chakra has two, the sixth chakra has six notes and the seventh chakra has the whole orchestra! Indian music is more occupied with higher centers while Western music is more concerned with lower centers. When Indian music overpowers you, you feel spiritually aroused and when Western music overrides you, you feel sexually evoked.

Chakras are the non-physical governing centers of various levels of human existence. The Buddhists call them seven lights. They are the portals that connect the physical body with the non-physical body and act as releasing points to discharge prāna or vital power.

■The Root chakra (Mulādhāra) governs the physical health of human being

The Navel chakra (Swādhisthāna) governs the sexual passion of human being

The Solar plexus chakra (Manipura) governs the desire to earn worldly possessions

The Heart Chakra (Anāhata) governs the emotional aspect of human being

The Throat chakra (Vishuddhā) governs the art of expression in human being

The Third Eye chakra (Agyā) governs the will power and psychic abilities in human being

The Crown chakra (Sahasrāra) is the seat of liberation

Balanced seven chakras in Buddha, the enlightened

   The Root chakra (Mulādhāra)

The Root chakra (Mulādhāra) governs the physical health of human being and it is situated at the end of the vertebral column. It is like the foundation of any structure or building. It has been found by the aura observers that this chakra is imbalanced in around 70% of people. Those whose Root chakra (Mulādhāra) is imbalanced have got health issues regarding some organ or the other. One's health needs to be intact if he wants to progress, be it in the material world or the spiritual realm. When Mulādhāra chakra is imbalanced, the person loses the confidence and the will power to accomplish things and succumbs to low confidence and negativity. This happens very often who are deficient in vitamin D and also in those who suffer from anemia (low hemoglobin). The color of Root chakra (Mulādhāra) is red, the color of blood and life! This chakra could be balanced by walking barefoot on the ground or eating red-colored food items that grow underground like carrots, beetroot etc.

   The Navel chakra (Swādhisthāna)

The Navel chakra (Swādhisthāna) governs the sexual drive in a human being. The person in whom this chakra is most active finds his mind obsessed and centered around sex only. When this chakra becomes overactive and goes out of control, it gives rise to rapist mentality and guilty feelings. Its seat is the same as those of the sexual organs. This chakra gets activated at puberty and it has been found out of balance in 50% of the individuals. This is the seat of the kundalini power and if directed in the right direction, this power can give rise to many creative and artistic creations. If channeled improperly or suppressed, it will ruin the individual. Swādhisthāna chakra gets imbalanced by eating food items like raw onion, ghee, urad dal, meat etc. There are certain yogic kriyās like mulabandh or uddiyan bandh, by virtue of which, one can direct the kundalini power from this chakra upwards and channel it for creative purposes.

   The Solar plexus chakra (Manipura)

The Solar plexus chakra (Manipura) governs the desire to earn worldly possessions like money, name, fame, respect and social status. It is situated at the navel. When this chakra is active, the is a kind of 'go' in one's life, a kind of zest that empowers you to enjoy the life. When this chakra becomes underactive, one loses this gusto and oftentimes, suffers from digestive disorders. All of us have experienced this sometime or the other in our life. When something goes seriously wrong with Manipura chakra, a person goes into depression, life seems meaningless and may have suicidal thoughts. It is a seat of fear also. The Solar plexus chakra is represented by yellow color which is also the color of the sun, the color of life and activity. Citrus fruits like lemon, lime, jack fruit, pineapple tend to balance this chakra.
Color 'yellow' and chanting mantra is 'ram'

   The Heart chakra (Anāhata)

The Heart chakra (Anāhata) governs the emotional aspect of human being. It is situated at the heart and surprisingly, its color is not red but green! This is the seat of love and attachment. The state of this chakra will indicate whether one is attached to the material world or spiritual world. When this chakra is inactive, the person will be indifferent to everything. He will live just because he is alive. A person can be partially attached to both the aspects of life, for example, he may be 25% oriented spiritually and 75% materially. The percentage differs in different individuals. The more a person is attached to the worldly things like his kith and kin and money, the more he will suffer from disappointments, letdown, the pain of bereavement, repentance and depression. Born as an individual, a person must love someone: either you love Divine or you love a mortal, one cannot escape! Anāhata chakra is situated at the center of all the chakras which signifies that love is the most important force of human life. This chakra can easily be balanced by growing trees and living with green nature.

   The Throat chakra (Vishuddhā)

The subtle faculties of human being start from the Throat chakra which is situated at the level of your thyroid gland in the throat. It is the seat of thought and speech. The Throat chakra (Vishuddhā) governs the art of expression in human being. When functioning to its full potential, it develops excellent communication and writing skills in an individual, their words are naturally convincing. Not to forget singing skills also. This chakra gets imbalanced in those who tell lies frequently. This chakra can easily be balanced by looking at the blue skies in the day and in night also. If you are a patient of migraine or suffer from frequent headaches, if you feel your eyes are getting weaker day by day, if your voice gets hoarse after a little talk, just try this simple exercise of looking at the heavens above! You can do it as many times as you wish in a day. You will be surprised to see the results. Just keep away from the food mixed with artificial chemicals or preservatives.

   The Third Eye chakra (agyā)

The Third Eye chakra (agyā) which is situated in the middle of two eyebrows (corresponding to pineal gland) is the center of will power. All the decisions are taken from here and all the resolves are made here. Agyā chakra acts as a communication hub between a soul and Supersoul or universal consciousness. Certain yogic practices can activate this chakra. Such a person exhibits intuition, telepathy, exceptional healing powers, clairvoyance, spirit communication abilities, can view past lives etc. If your third eye chakra is activated and even if you say a thing, even by mistake, it carries exceptional energy to materialize. It should also be noted that if something goes wrong in your yogic practices, you can develop sleep problems or you can even become a neurotic. These practices must be done under the guidance of an able guru. Few are exceptional, they have got their third eye chakra active right from their birth. Third eye chakra people are good decision makers while Manipur chakra people are good believers.

   The Crown chakra (sahasrāra)

The Crown chakra (sahasrāra) is the seat of liberation or realization. It is situated at the top of the skull. When crown chakra opens, the person gets liberated from the cycle of life and death. This chakra is said to be fully activated when spiritual unfoldment is complete and kundalini has reached sahasrāra. At the time of death, the soul leaves the body from this chakra. Such a person is very rare, one in a million, whose crown chakra is activated. In most of individuals, this chakra is dormant or inactive. In those where this chakra goes out of balance, such individuals become heinous criminals.
Its color is violet, the spiritual color and mantra is 'om', the primitive sound.

The first three chakras are earth-bound and hence, they are affected by gravitation. These chakras disgrace the human mind. The upper three chakras are sky-bound and they are not affected by gravity. These chakras sublimate the human mind. When the kundalini power dwells in the lower chakras, a person becomes more extrovert, restless, edgy and agitated. When the kundalini energy dwells in the upper chakras, a person becomes calm, tranquil, introvert and seeks inner peace.

Anāhata is the middle chakra and all the other chakras are placed around it. This indicates that the balanced life is centered around LOVE.

The lower three chakras are related to sex, money, power, prestige, name, fame and respect. The upper three chakras are related to renunciation, discrimination, meditation, divinity and spirituality. You will note that love lies between sex and prayer. When sex is purified, it becomes love. And when love is purified, it becomes a prayer. It is the same energy which is expressed on various existential levels.
Spiritual life and seven chakras

Transformation takes place as the energy ascends from one center to the higher one. When the energy comes to the Heart chakra (anāhata), you become love. When it reaches the Third Eye chakra (agyā), you become consciousness. And when it touches the Crown chakra (sahasrāra), you become a Buddha!
