M-SEAL by Pidlite (the makers of well-known Fevicol) is an adhesive par excellence and every household must have IT. Any small crack or hole, or any minor detachment due to breakage, small water leakage anywhere, apply M-SEAL and it will effectively seal/join the thing and harden within no time. In this way, it is a great money-saver.
Advantages of M-SEAL
1. It will adhere even on smooth surfaces.
2. It can stick to a variety of materials like plastic, PVC, granite, metal, glass, wood, ceramic, rubber ….. the list is endless!
3. Doesn't take much time to harden. Max 90 minutes.
4. Once properly applied, it lasts for years.
5. It performs a number of functions – sealing, fixing, joining, insulating, water-proofing.
Disadvantages
Can't think of any! Some Useful Tips Before You Begin With M-SEAL
2. M-SEAL comes in two varieties: Black and white. In the white one, the resin and the hardener both are white while in the black one, one is gray and the other is black. In my opinion, the black serves your purpose better. Here is why – As you must be knowing, before M-SEAL, both of the components (resin + hardener) need to be mixed, kneaded and rolled to make the mixture homogeneous. In the case of white M-SEAL, you can't make out whether both of these are mixed or not as both are white. In case of another variety, you can judge it by their color difference. Mixing black M-SEAL is a bit harder than mixing the white one, it takes time, but it is worth it. When both the components are mixed together perfectly, the compound becomes homogeneous black and it starts sticking to your fingers. This indicates it is ready for use.
You will also note the difference between the white and black types, once they dry. The surface of the white one turns rough and the particles may come out in the form of powder when you apply friction. This is not so in the case of black M-SEAL. The surface is smooth and uniform. The particles do not dislodge even after rubbing with sand-paper. The bottom line is, the black variety gives you confidence of strength when applied and tested!
3. M-SEAL is quick to dry. At a normal room temperature, it won't take more than 90 minutes to harden. It will take slightly more time, if the air is humid.
4. It is better to apply the M-SEAL after wearing hand gloves. This is because, during the process of kneading, some of it invariably enters the gap between your nails and fingers. It becomes a tough job to eliminate it. Some of it may also enter your food.
5. Make sure the surface where you want to apply the M-SEAL is dry, non-oily and not covered by dust. Clean the surface using a cotton cloth before application.
6. Wash your hands IMMEDIATELY after you are finished. Don't let it dry on your nails and skin. Use any old tooth-brush to remove the particles which have poked under your nails.
7. Some resin may remain after your job is over. Wrap it carefully in a plastic wrapper. You can use it in immediate future for another purpose. Write down the expiry date with a marker pen on the pack before you put it away in a drawer. It should not be more than 18 months from the date of manufacture.
